We are heading out on our first float trip in 2 years, tomorrow!
My in laws own a canoe rental, so this is something that has been a big part of our summer for as long as I can remember. My husband has his own canoe and fun fact, he is the only one who paddles. He treats his canoe more like a kayak, so I don’t have to do any work. (Yay me!)
To have the most enjoyable and comfortable float possible, I’ve included our top favorite items to bring a long.
1. Cooler
Stephen purchased this cooler off of a kickstarter project. I thought he was crazy for spending so much, but this cooler is LIFE! It has a built in radio, usb outlets to charge your phone, a bottle opener, a blender, plastic plates, cutlery, a cutting board, a divider for the inside, lights on the inside AND amazing rugged tires that will pull through almost anything! **there are extras you can add as well — we have the blue one
2. Dry Box
You will definitely need one of these. I usually carry my phone, keys and Stephen’s wallet in here. Probably not the smartest, but we’ve been lucky this far. *Only bring what you are ok with losing
3. Tanning Oil
I know. I’m terrible, but I honestly burn worse with sunscreen than I do with oil, and this does have a little SPF in it.
Sun Bum is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands, I use their shampoo, conditioner and even the baby version of their body wash for little man.
As I’ve said before, I don’t ever tan my face, so I always have a full face makeup on and usually a hat and sunglasses when floating.
***I am in no way advocating for not using sunscreen, this is just what I’ve found works best for me.
4. Canoe Seat
This is probably my absolute top pick. I need back support, it’s just not comfortable without it.
*I can’t find the ones we have, because it’s been years, but this one is very similar.
Have you ever been floating? What are your must haves?
